Miniature Painting Forge was born from a simple passion: the art and joy of miniature painting. Finding the perfect color, managing a growing collection of paints, and understanding the nuances of color theory can be as challenging as it is rewarding. The mission is to provide hobbyists—from beginners to seasoned veterans—with a powerful, intuitive, and free tool to streamline these processes.
This website is a digital companion for your painting desk. It's designed to help you:
Find Equivalent Paints: Seamlessly find matching paint colors across different brands like Citadel, Vallejo, Green Stuff World, and more. Never get stuck on a project because you don't have a specific shade again.
Manage Your Collection: Keep a digital inventory of the paints you own. Our tool helps you track your collection and see what colors you're missing for a specific project.
Explore Color Theory: Use our integrated tools to explore color harmonies, find complementary colors, and plan your painting schemes with confidence.
The database currently covers over 3,000 paints across 24 lines from manufacturers including Citadel, Vallejo, Army Painter, Scale75, Green Stuff World, AK Interactive, and more. It is updated as new ranges are released and as the community flags gaps or corrections.
I'm Gabriel Kothe, a hobbyist painter who has been collecting and painting miniatures for about three years. I often struggled to find equivalents for paints across different brands and to decide on the right colours to use for shades and highlights. I knew there had to be a better way to simplify these common challenges. That idea sparked the creation of Miniature Painting Forge — a centralised, easy-to-use platform to solve a problem many of us in the community face. This project is a labour of love, built to give back to the vibrant and creative world of miniature painting.
